Experienced Ivorian left back Ghislain Konan ended a spell of almost five months without a club on Thursday, signing for Spanish La Liga 2 side Burgos CF. The 29-year-old joins on a contract that will last until the end of the current 2024-25 campaign.

Konan previously spent two seasons in the Saudi Pro League, playing one season with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr during the 2022-23 season. After contributing 4 assists in 27 matches, Konan was eventually sent on loan to fellow top flight side Al Fayha after being squeezed out due to foreign player limits as Nassr brought in new high priced signings.

The ASEC Mimosas youth product provided 5 assists in 26 matches for Fayha before being released by Nassr when his loan ended at the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign. The short-term deal gives Burgos an experienced left back while Konan can prove his abilities to top flight European clubs for a potential move following the ongoing season. Burgos are currently battling relegation, three points clear of the drop zone with 27 points from 23 matches in the Spanish second division.

Additionally, Konan can earn the regular playing time needed to get back into the Ivory Coast national team picture. Konan is a reliable option for the Elephants and started all seven matches for Ivory Coast as the hosts won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. He has 42 appearances for the senior national team.
