Former Tunisian national team forward Ziad Jaziri assumed the role of the national team's technical director. The new leadership of Tunisia Football Federation (FTF) is undergoing major changes and the appointment of Jaziri is said to be one of them.

According to Tunisian daily La Presse, FTF president Moez Nasri hopes Jaziri's presence will help the Carthage Eagles in their continental and international tournaments.

The 46-year-old ex-Etoile du Sahel striker is well known for helping Tunisia win the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil. His first assignment will be finding a suitable candidate to coach Tunisia ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches in March. Several names have been circulated for the role in the past few weeks. Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz was very close to take the helm at the North African nation but negotiations broke down.

Jaziri might prefer a local coach to take charge of the national side. His influence might temporarily FTF to consider a local coach if the price tag of bringing in a foreign coach continues to be an issue.
