Portuguese coach José Peseiro, the head coach of Zamalek, stated that his team played a good match in their game against Enppi in the Nile Egyptian League.
Zamalek defeated Enppi 3-0 in Round 17, the final round of the first phase of the league.
In the post-match press conference, Peseiro said:
"We created many chances and did not allow the opponent to create opportunities. Zamalek deserves the victory today, and I am happy with the team's performance because everyone played well."
Peseiro continued:
"In the first half, there was no proper connection in the style of play, and the wingers did not receive many balls because both of them are better at playing wide. So far, there hasn't been enough time to train in this style. The lack of connection in midfield led to a change in the playing style. Additionally, Abdallah El-Said and Nasser Maher played a major role in midfield and helped create chances."
The head coach added:
"Zamalek controlled the match and took the lead for the first time, especially since the team had been conceding goals in previous matches and trying to come back. After the first goal, the task became easier, and the players exploited spaces and scored again. I appreciate the opponent because they have been playing well recently, but Zamalek deserved to win today."
Peseiro expressed his preferences regarding the schedule:
"We have a match in three days, and I would have preferred an extra rest day between matches, especially since we are in Ramadan. We are on the right track and capable of improvement. In the matches we played, we deserved to win."
Peseiro also spoke about injuries:
"I am sad about Ahmed El-Gafaly's injury and want to check on Hossam Abdelmageed and Nasser Mansi after they also suffered injuries today."
Regarding Abdallah El-Said, Peseiro noted:
"He is performing very well, but we must consider fitness levels. That’s why he did not start today, but whenever the team needs him, he plays and delivers great performances."
Finally, Peseiro discussed Seif Gaafar's selection and his approach towards the players:
"I want to get to know all the players on the field, but I have only been in charge for two weeks without a preseason. Seif Gaafar played today because I wanted to see him in action.
"There are 32 players in training, which is a large number, and I need to evaluate them before making decisions. We are working on improving all the players and there are many good ones such as Shikabala, Ahmed Fattouh, Mohamed Atef, Eisho, and Mostafa El-Zanari. Everyone will have their chance, just as Seif Gaafar did today."
Zamalek is currently third in the Nile Egyptian League table with 32 points. The team has qualified for the title competition phase after guaranteeing a top nine finish at the end of the first stage.
