Croatian manager Krunoslav Jurčić, head coach of Pyramids FC, emphasized the significance of their opening group stage match in the 2024-25 CAF Champions League against Angola's Sagrada Esperança. Jurčić stressed that securing a victory and the first three points is crucial to setting the tone for the campaign and providing a strong boost for upcoming fixtures.
Jurčić pointed out that Pyramids FC is in high spirits following two consecutive wins in the Egyptian Premier League. He underlined the importance of carrying this momentum into the Champions League and starting the continental competition with a win, especially with two challenging away matches ahead.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the coach revealed that he had analyzed multiple matches of Sagrada and is aware of their quality. He added that Pyramids' Congolese striker Fiston Mayele provided valuable insights about the Angolan team, which includes several Congolese players known for their skill. Jurčić noted that Sagrada is likely to rely on long balls behind Pyramids’ defensive line, making it essential to remain vigilant.
Jurčić also addressed Sagrada coach Roque Sapiri's perspective on Pyramids, particularly the claim that they rely heavily on counterattacks. He disagreed, asserting that Pyramids is a well-rounded, cohesive team capable of delivering a strong performance. The team is fully prepared to showcase its best against Sagrada and aims to secure its first three points in the group.
