Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum has talked about the importance of extending the contract of midfielder, Justice Blay.
The sturdy and hard tackling midfielder’s contract was due to expire this month but his stay with the Porcupine Warriors has been prolonged for one-and-a-half seasons.
Prosper Narteh Ogum shared some words after the club’s announcement of Justice Blay contract extension. “Justice [Blay] brings so much to the team both on and off the pitch. His extension is great news for all of us,” Prosper Narteh Ogum told Kotoko media.
Head of the Interim Management Committee [IMC], Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, highlighted Blay’s importance to the club: “Justice is not just a player; he’s a leader and a symbol of what Kotoko stands for. We’re thrilled he’s chosen to continue this journey with us,” he said.
Blay on the other hand has vowed to help the club secure the league title at the end of the season. Kotoko currently share 27 points with Gold Star in second on the league table after 15 league matches.
“We are eyeing the Ghana Premier League title at the end of the season. Asante Kotoko is a big club and we can only compete in Africa if we are able to win the league. So we will do our best to win it,” added Blay.
The 32-year-old is in his second spell at Kotoko having joined the record league holders’ on loan in the 2019 and 2020 season in his first stint from Medeama SC. Per his current record in the domestic league, he has played 12 out of 15 games with a goal to his credit.
