Head coach of Asante Kotoko Prosper Narteh Ogum has sung the praise of captain Justice Blay after their slim win over Holy Stars.

The rugged midfielder returned from injury to marshal the middle of the park for the Porcupine Warriors who nailed the new boys by 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium in week 25.

Samuel Tenadu’s long range strike ricocheted off Holy Stars defender to secure all three points for the record Premier League holders who go top of the log.

Prosper Narteh-Ogum said: “Absolute leader, he commands a lot of respect, he understands the game so he is able to tell his colleagues what to do when we don’t have the ball and when we have the ball,” Prosper Narteh-Ogum said.

“And you can see he has a lot of communication ability, he is able to direct them on the field so I think [Justice] Blay in the middle of the park is a weapon for us.”

The two time African champions have collected 42 points, leading second place side Gold Stars by a point and five ahead of Heart of Lions and Hearts of Oak with Bechem United completing the top four on 36 points after 23 league games.

Head coach of Holy Stars, Abdulai Gazale was left disappointed after losing by such a slim margin.

“We have done well as you can see but it is unfortunate we conceded a goal early in the 30th minute of the first half. We made mistakes because I think the ball was preventable even though you can’t prevent deflection.

“We were not expecting that the shooting would come from that angle and it came. The game is about winning, losing or drawing and unfortunately we lost.”

Basake Holy Stars sit 14th on the league table with 24 points from 23 league games.
