Jwaneng Galaxy FC has released head coach Morena Ramoreboli who is the overwhelming favourite for the Botswana national team post. In anticipation of losing the South African, Galaxy have named Blessings Moyo as an interim coach.
"This adjustment allows head coach Mr Morena Ramoreboli to focus on personal commitments for the time being," Galaxy's statement reads.
The 43-year-old stepped in the shoes of Didier Gomes da Rosa to take over the reins of the Botswana national team in October after Gomes da Rosa resigned citing a poor working relationship with newly elected Botswana Football Association president Tariq Babiseng. Ramoreboli successfully guided the Zebras to 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification after 1-1 draws at home against Mauritania then at Egypt in a dramatic final day.
The Zebras are celebrating their second appearance at the AFCON finals after making their debut over a decade ago. Ramoreboli, who has found great success in Botswana domestic football and even in CAF club competition at Jwaneng Galaxy since being appointed in 2021, looks set to focus full time on his duties with the Botswana national team.
