Jwaneng Galaxy FC’s new coach Pieter de Jongh has outlined his strategy to improve the performance of the Botswana top-tier league team.

The Dutchman told Pan-Africa Football he was determined to establish a long-lasting legacy at the FNB Championship team.

“We go step by step to make it a top professional football club through collaboration with a Dutch professional club,” he said.

He cited enhancing youth football structures and instilling more professionalism in the main team as among his priorities.

“The first steps would be around the first team. We will do that together. This season they are struggling. Now we are behind. This is the same thing I do at every [new] club. I bring top professional structure,” the ex-Silver Strikers mentor explained.

The UEFA A-Licence holder was proud that his groundwork at Silver Strikers FC in Malawi helped them win the TNM Super League championship in the just-ended 2024 season under new coach Peter Mponda.

Galaxy hired De Jongh on a two-year contract, a month after parting ways with South African Morena Ramoreboli, and will have Seemo Mpatane as his deputy.
