Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has told his critics that he is not Jose Mourinho to provide the South African team a quick-fix solution after its indifferent start to the season continued with a 2-0 loss to Polokwane City on Sunday.

Oswin Appollis' 17th minute goal was followed by Mokibelo Ramabu’s 90th minute strike for the hosts Polokwane to leave Chiefs with just one win in their last six matches across all competitions. Of late, there have been growing criticisms from the Soweto giants' former players such as Willard Katsande questioned the ex-Yanga mentor’s tactics.

However in a post-match pitch-side interview with SuperSport presenter Phumlani Msibi, Nabi said his team played well but was just let down by poor finishing.

“We controlled the game. Polokwane created two opportunities and it is two goals. Kaizer Chiefs created five opportunities and no goal…This is the problem of KaIzer Chiefs— failing to score,” he said.

The Tunisian insisted that his critics do not understand the football processes required to turn around such a sleeping giant back to its old glory self.

“I think we have the best team in the PSL. However, we don’t have another solution except to continue working seriously. I don't want to kill the morale of my players. I want to support them to work seriously. I have confidence in my players, my staff, and myself. I have the confidence in the future…we are in the right direction."

The veteran trainer said any analysis of Chiefs' performances under his reign should consider that some of his players are young.

“The critics don’t know football…This is football, you have the objective step-by-step. Every step has an objective. My team’s only problem is scoring. This is football; it is not every time you change. I am not Mourinho. I am Nabi,” he concluded.

AmaKhosi, as Chiefs are fondly called, find themselves in a distant ninth place in the log table, 10 points behind joint leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. Polokwane are in third place on the log table, four points behind Sundowns and Pirates who have two games in hand as they have been pre-occupied with CAF Champions League assignments.
