Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma has stressed the importance of bagging maximum points from their Betway Premiership fixture against Marumo Gallants at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Amakhosi will look to break their five-match winless streak against Gallants in this fixture which holds significant importance for them as they aim to secure a top-eight finish. A win would be a vital step towards achieving this goal, and the team will be looking to build on their previous victory against Gallants earlier this season.

“I don’t think that played a part in our minds because we know the importance of the game that we’re gonna play over the weekend. We know that we need points,” Bvuma said as quoted by SABC Sports.

“We know that we are not in a position where we would like to finish at the end of the season and also we know that us winning the so-called small games or not playing against a bigger team, we know the importance of it because it can take us higher up in the league.

“I wouldn’t say that our players are focused on the derby at the moment because right now every game is like a final for us. Marumo, when we win, we know we get the momentum going into the next game. We know we get the maximum points that we need in order for us to finish better in the league.”

Chiefs remain eighth on the log standings while Gallants are 13th following the 1-1 draw in their last fixture against Golden Arrows.
