Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has admitted that his side did not find it easy despite registering a narrow 1-0 Betway Premiership victory against a stubborn Magesi FC at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

Ashley Du Preez scored the only goal of the game in the second half to help Amakhosi bounce back to winning ways. Chiefs went into the contest having suffered two straight defeats - against SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns - but were still expected to see off their opponents, who are lying second from the bottom in the league standings.

Du Preez, who came on as a substitute, made an instant impact as the forward found the back of the net from close-range following a cross from Makabi Lilepo in the 69th minute.

“We knew that it was going to be a difficult game, Magesi are always difficult against big teams,” Nabi told SuperSport TV as quoted by idiskitimes. “We saw it in the Carling final against [Orlando] Pirates and we knew it was gonna be a difficult game.

“And even for ourselves, the fact of having a lot of changes, the first line-up we struggled a little bit in the first half to get on the front foot, to get going but we were better in the second half.

“In this kind of game what you need is three points and to get going.”

Despite the win, Amakhosi remained eighth on the 16-team table with 28 points from 20 matches while Magesi remained rooted in 15th position with 17 points from 21 outings.
