Kaizer Chiefs defender Rushwin Dortley believes they have overcome their Soweto derby defeat against Orlando Pirates and will be ready to face AmaZulu in their next Betway Premiership fixture at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.
Amakhosi suffered a heart-breaking 1-0 defeat against Pirates in the first Soweto derby of the season at FNB Stadium.
Njabulo Blom was adjudged to have pulled Relebohile Mofokeng back as he raced through on goal in added time and Patrick Maswanganyi held his nerve to score the winning goal with the last kick of the game.
“The Derby was an amazing experience for me, personally. I always watched the game on television and now I got to play in it, but unfortunately the result didn’t go our way.
“However, the team performance was good and we are going into our upcoming game against AmaZulu in a positive frame of mind. The team is ready to go and fight for the three points,” said Dortley as quoted by the club’s official website.
“We have done thorough preparation for this game and we have a strategy. Things have changed here since Arthur Zwane left and new coaches have come in, so I don’t think he has any inside track on how things work with the team now.”
Dortley further revealed that Chiefs plan is to win the league at the end of the season. “Our focus is to win every game and claim maximum points in order to move up the table.
“While it is still mathematically possible, our goal is to win the league but, if not, at least finish in the top three, and qualify for CAF competition next season. We really want to represent the club on the continent again.”
Chiefs supporters will be hoping to see more from their new recruits, Thabo Cele and Glody Lilepo, who got a run in the second half of the Derby.
