Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga was on the scoresheet as Al Duhail SC emerged 2-0 winners over Al Wakrah in a Qatar Stars League contest on Friday.
In the fixture at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Olunga's Duhail raced into an early lead when Karim Boudiaf scored with only two minutes played. The goal stunned the visiting side and it should have been 2-0 in the 12th minute when Olunga missed an open sitter.
The former Gor Mahia striker had another opportunity to score in the 34th minute but his left-footed shot went inches wide. Duhail went into the half-time break leading 1-0 but it could have been more had they converted their chances.
The second half started with Duhail taking the game to Al Wakrah but they had to wait until the 56th minute when Olunga finally found the back of the net with a neat finish past the stretching hands of goalkeeper Saoud Mubarak Al Khater.
Five minutes after his goal, Olunga was withdrawn for Ismael Mohammed in the 64th minute. Meanwhile, Duhail's new Moroccan signing Hakim Ziyech made his debut in the 64th minute after he came on to replace Abdullah Al-Ahrak.
So far this season, Olunga has managed 12 league appearances, scored nine goals and provided two assists.
