Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has assured Kenyans that the country will do everything to ensure they co-host 2024 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.
Mohammed was speaking after the CAF delegation, led by Director of Competitions and Events Samson Adamu, has concluded its two-day final inspection of Kenya's facilities for hosting the CHAN tournament.
Mohammed commended the progress made since the delegation's previous visit, stating: “The progress has been impressive since their last visit. Most of their recommendations and suggestions have been met, but there is still more work to be done. We will double our efforts to ensure everything is ready for the tournament.”
The CHAN Local Organising Committee (LOC) further remained committed to delivering a tournament that all Africans can be proud of. In a separate statement issued by FKF and obtained by Pan-Africa Football, the federation assured Kenyans that they were making progress in beating the deadline set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
“Today, the CHAN Local Organising Committee (LOC) welcomed the CAF delegation led by Director of Competitions & Events Samson Adamu for a two-day final inspection of our facilities. Preparations are progressing steadily to meet world-class standards, and we want to assure Kenyans that we are committed to delivering a tournament we can all be proud of.”
The CHAN will be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda from 1 to 28 February 2025 and it will be the first edition to be hosted by three countries.
The following 17 countries have already qualified for the CHAN including Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda 2024: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Morocco, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Niger, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo, Sudan, Zambia, Angola and Madagascar.
