Ghana’s female senior national team will square off against Senegal in a first of two international friendlies in preparation for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco this year.

The head coach of the Black Queens of Ghana, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, has backed his side to secure victory against the Teranga Lionesses of Senegal in their friendly match on Saturday, April 5.

Speaking in a pre-match interview, the coach admitted that the upcoming encounter will be tough but added that his team has the quality and potential to see off the opponent.

“The game against Senegal tomorrow. I think it’s going to be a tough one. They play physically. It’s going to be a good game for us. We need to move the ball fast, but if we do that, I’m sure we have the potential to win the game,” Kim Lars Bjorkegren told the Ghana FA media team in an interview on Friday.

The Swedish trainer replaced Nora Hauptle, who left to sign a two year contract with the Zambia Copper Queens following the expiration of her contract last year.

Saturday’s friendly match against Senegal is part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2025 CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be held in Morocco later this year.

The Black Queens after the game on Saturday will engage the Teranga Lionesses in a second friendly match on Tuesday, April 8.
