Former Ghana assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has expressed belief in local coaches to handle the Black Stars provided they get the needed support.
His comments follow the growing assertions from several quarters that, Ghanaian coaches lack the mental fortitude and technical ability to lead the senior male team to major success.
The former Asante Kotoko coach has refuted those claims, indicating that local coaches with the necessary assistance from all powers that be, can do a good work.
“You see, regardless of your background, if you don't get the needed support from management, there's no way you can succeed. “You need that support, whether you are local or whatever. You need the support from Ghanaians and from management, the FA.
“We have very good local coaches. Maybe I don't know the impression at the management level but to tell me Ghanaian coaches are not there yet, that's a mistake. When we get the opportunity, we'll do well,” Konadu told Joy Sports.
Konadu recently coached Black Leopards in South Africa’s second tier but left the position a few months later following strings of poor performances.
The former Legon Cities trainer guided the now defunct Nsoatreman FC to a historic Ghana FA Cup title last season, the first in the club’s history.
