Pyramids FC coach Krunoslav Jurčić claimed that his team is fully prepared and ready to face Tunisia’s Esperance in the top clash of the group stage. He emphasized the significance of the match, as it takes place away from home against a strong, experienced opponent in African competitions and in front of their passionate fans. The match also holds great importance as it determines the leader in Group D.
Pyramids FC will face Espérance at the Rades Olympic Stadium in the Tunisian capital on Saturday at 7 PM GMT, in the third round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
During the pre-match press conference, the coach explained that the team has prepared well for the encounter after arriving in Tunisia a few days ago, directly from Mali. He mentioned that many players have recovered from the flu that hit the squad during their journey to Mali for the Djoliba match, though there are still some absences. However, he expressed full confidence in his players and their ability to deliver a strong performance and achieve a positive result in Tunisia, given the importance of the match.
Jurčić highlighted that despite being a relatively new team compared to Espérance, Pyramids FC has proven itself both domestically and continentally. He stressed that the team will undoubtedly strive for victory in Tunisia, despite the strength of the opponent, the difficulty of the match, and the expected large crowd at Rades Stadium.
The coach noted that Pyramids FC is a team capable of adapting to different situations and strong opponents by adjusting its playing style. However, he is more focused on his team's readiness for this crucial match. He confidently stated that the team that commits fewer mistakes will ultimately secure the win, emphasizing the need for 100% concentration throughout the game to avoid any errors.
When asked about the availability of Nigerian player Sodiq Awujoola for the match, Jurčić clarified that although the player is in Tunisia, he will not be available for selection as he is not registered in the current squad. His presence is aimed at maintaining his fitness and ensuring he is ready for future matches once the registration window opens.
Pyramids FC currently leads Group D with 4 points, followed by Espérance, who also have 4 points but trail on goal difference. Angola's Sagrada Esperança sits in third place with 1 point, while Mali's Djoliba occupies fourth place, also with 1 point but with an inferior goal difference.
