Ghana Premier League giants, Asante Kotoko have re-signed their former top striker Kwame Opoku three seasons after he left the club.
The 27-year-old makes a return to the Porcupine Warriors after leaving in 2020/21 season where he scored 6 goals with 3 assists in 16 matches. Opoku attracted offers around the continent and beyond following his sterling performance in Ghana but ended up in Algeria with top flight side USM Alger.

After struggling to command a regular shirt with USMA he was offloaded to Moroccan club Olympique Khouribga where he battled incessant injuries, leading to his exit as OCK suffered relegation to the Botola 2.
Opoku has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the record Ghana Premier League holders which is subject to medicals and transfer clearance.
Head coach of Kotoko, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum said of Kwame Poku’s return: “Kwame is a player who has grown tremendously since his first spell here. His time in Algeria and Morocco has sharpened his skills and added to his experience. He’s a proven goal scorer and creator and I’m confident he will bring a lot of quality to our squad.”
Opoku has expressed delight in returning to the club that shot him to fame: “It’s a great feeling to be back at Kotoko. This club has always felt like home to me, and I’m eager to contribute to the team’s success.
“The support from the fans has been incredible, even during my time away, and I’m ready to give everything on the pitch to make them proud,” he added.
The two time continental club champions currently sit 7th on the Ghana Premier League table with 18 points, one behind bitter rivals Hearts of Oak who they will clash with in week 13 at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, December 15.
