Ghana captain Andre Ayew’s blistering form for club, Le Havre continued after scoring his second goal of the season in 10 Ligue 1 games on Sunday.

The former BBC African Footballer of the Year fired Le Havre ahead on the 8th minutes at home to RC Lens on Match Day 17 but the celebration would be short lived 20 minutes later.

The Ghanaian captain, who scored against his boyhood club Olympique Marseille last week and received a standing ovation for refusing to celebrate, wasted no time making his mark again. Ayew pounced on a rebound from Herve Koffi’s save in the ninth minute, slotting home from close range to give Le Havre an early lead.

Despite Ayew’s opener, Le Havre were not able to keep stranglehold on the lead when debutant, Goduine Koyalipou headed in the equalizer before halftime. It was a feather in the cap for the Central Africa Republic national team forward as it marked his debut goal as well in the Ligue 1 for Lens.

Lens dominated the second half, with persistent pressure crowning in Deiver Machado’s 77th-minute winner. Le Havre’s survival fight looks increasingly challenging as the loss is their sixth consecutive defeats, leaving them four points adrift of the relegation zone.
