Lesotho’s Likuena coach Leslie Notsi says his side is still in the 2025 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) race despite losing 0-2 to Angola on Saturday.

In a post-match interview after the first leg of the final qualifying round in South Africa, Notsi said his team failed to cope with Angola’s style of play hence the loss.

“We were expecting that they would give us a very difficult game but there are a lot of good attributes. The second leg in Rwanda is still another encounter. We will believe in ourselves,” he said.

Angola coach Pedro Goncalves summoned 27 players for camp training ahead of the matches against Lesotho.

The Palancas Negras are gunning for a fifth appearance at the continental championship exclusive to home-based players.

Angola performed their best at the 2011 CHAN edition held in Sudan where they lost 3-0 to Algeria in the final.

Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya will host CHAN from 1 to 28 February 2024.
