Lesotho’s Likuena regrouped for training on Monday ahead of the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) final qualifying round matches against Angola.
A statement from Lesotho Football Association says Likuena will host Angola in South Africa on December 21 before traveling to Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda for the reverse fixture seven days later. The overall winner of the two legs will qualify for the CHAN finals.
Likuena coach Leslie Notši has since maintained most of the players who made the squad that saw off Namibia in the first qualifying round. The veteran coach has also bolstered his squad with seasoned striker Jane Thabantšo and 17-year-old goalkeeper Leluma Mofoka.
Lesotho are hosting matches in the neighbouring country as their stadiums are not certified for international matches. Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya will host CHAN from 1 to 28 February 2024.
Meanwhile, Angola coach Pedro Goncalves has summoned 27 players for camp training ahead of the matches against Lesotho. The Palancas Negras are gunning for a fifth appearance at the continental championship exclusive to home-based players.
Angola performed their best at the 2011 CHAN edition held in Sudan where they lost 3-0 to Algeria in the final.
