The first stage of the 2024-25 Libyan Premier League is well past the halfway point with most of the nation's top clubs well on their way to qualifying for the championship stage while a couple are experiencing struggles.

In Group 4 based in the capital of Tripoli, Al Ahli Tripoli remained perfect with a 2-1 result against Asaria to make it ten wins from ten matches. Former Raja Casablanca defender Sanad Al Warfali doubled Ahli's lead just before halftime with a free kick strike after Ahmed Kraouaa opened the scoring. A second half own goal from Al Warfali made things interesting but the big spenders held on for victory.

Eight points back of Ahli in the group is Al Madina who made waves with a series of foreign signings over the past week before the end of the transfer window.

All three goals came from new acquisitions in their 3-1 victory over Al Ittihad Misurata including a sparkling debut for Oto John, who scored twice after the Nigerian arrived from Azerbaijani football. Former RS Berkane forward Chadrack Lukombe opened the scoring for his first goal for the club since the Congolese joined following a brief spell in Malaysia.

In Group 3 also based in Tripoli, Olympic Azzaweya and Swehly Sports Club continued to stay safely ahead of the pack with victories this week. Azzaweya defeated Al Ittihad by a 2-0 score with Beninese forward Tidjani Anaane opening his account in Libyan football after former Kwara United star Emmanuel Ogbole provided the first goal.

Al-Ittihad, the biggest spenders during the transfer window, are three points back of the third and final spot to advance to the championship stage with urgency increasing to integrate the new signings and improve results. Rising Libya national team forward Osama Mukhtar scored the only goal in Swehly's 1-0 victory over Abu Salem leaving Swehly and Azzaweya in safe territory to advance.

In Benghazi, Group 2 saw Al Ahly and Al Hilal continue to pull away from the pack. Ahly dominated Al Murooj in a 4-1 victory with Malian striker Boubacar Traoré opening the scoring and also assisting the third goal. Hilal scored the only goal in the first half of their 1-0 victory over Al Taawun.

Finally in Group 1, Al Akhdar were held to a scoreless draw by Al Suqoor. Suqoor are in fourth place, two points behind Al Tahaddi for the final qualifying place for the next stage after Tahaddi played to a surprise 2-2 draw with Al Borouq. Defending league champions Al Nasr Benghazi were not in action and currently sit in second place.
