Libyan Premier League: Al Ittihad SC ends winless streak and Al Hilal dominate

The second half of the opening stage of the Libyan Premier League continued with several matches across different groups from February 19 to 22.


Group Three: Al-Ittihad SC ends winless streak with victory


In the fourth round of the group’s second leg, Al-Ittihad SC returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Abu Salim SC.


Mahmoud Al-Shaloui opened the scoring in the 36th minute. Musaddaq Al-Amami scored an own goal in first-half stoppage time. Naoufel Zerhouni sealed the win in the 71st minute.



New signing Mahmoud Kahraba had a very good performance, assisting two of the three goals.


This win marks Al-Ittihad SC’s first league victory in four matches and a win over Abu Salim SC after failing to beat them in four previous encounters. Meanwhile, it is a third consecutive defeat for Abu Salim SC.


Group Three Standings:


Al-Ittihad SC: 3rd place (18 points, level with 4th-placed Shabab Al-Ghar on goal difference)

Abu Salim SC: 6th place (13 points)


Group Four: Al-Ahli Tripoli's winning streak ends with goalless draw


In the third round of the second leg, Al-Ahli Tripoli was held to a 0-0 draw against Al-Ittihad Misurata, marking the first time this season they dropped points after winning their first ten matches.


Group Four Standings:


Al-Ahli Tripoli: 1st place (31 points)

Al-Ittihad Misurata: 3rd place (17 points)


Group One: Al-Nasr secures narrow win over Al-Akhdar


In the fourth round of the second leg, Al-Nasr defeated Al-Akhdar 1-0 thanks to Badr Hassan's header in the 38th minute following a Cheickna Samaké cross.



This is Al-Nasr’s second win in their last six league matches.


Al-Akhdar suffered their first loss after a three-match unbeaten streak.


Group One Standings:


Al-Akhdar: 1st place (26 points)

Al-Nasr: 2nd place (21 points)


Group Three: Swehly SC defeats Al-Tersana


In the third round from the second half of the campaign, Swehly SC edged past Al-Tersana by a 2-1 score.


Fousseny Coulibaly put Swehly SC ahead in the 13th minute. Fily Traoré doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time. Abdelrahman Hanchi pulled one back for Al-Tersana in added time before halftime.


Al-Tersana remains winless in their last five league matches.


Group Three Standings:


Swehly SC: 2nd place (27 points)

Al-Tersana: 8th place (11 points)


Group Two: Al-Hilal Benghazi dominates Branes with four-goal rout


In the third round of the second leg, Al-Hilal Benghazi crushed Branes 4-0, extending their winning streak to five consecutive league matches. Ezzeddine Al-Mariami opened the scoring with a penalty in the 12th minute.


Mauritanian striker Hemeya Tanjy added another penalty goal in the 23rd minute. Ammar Taifour netted the third in the 59th minute. Amjad Ben Abdi wrapped up the victory in the 74th minute.


On Saturday, Al-Hilal continued their excellent form with a 3-1 victory over Al Andalus. Experinced Libya national team forward Faisal Al Badri was among the scorers as Hilal move to within a point of rivals Al Ahly at the top of the Group Two table.



Group Two Standings:


Al Ahly Benghazi: 1st place (28 points)

Al-Hilal Benghazi: 2nd place (27 points)
