Libyan Premier League: Al-Ittihad SC urges action from attorney general and minister of interior after Al-Majd draw

Al-Ittihad SC in Libya has officially announced that it has urged the Attorney General and the Minister of Interior regarding the incidents that took place during the team's match against Al-Majd in the Libyan League.


In its statement, the club reported that security forces from the nation's Intervention and Control Unit fired live bullets at the team's unarmed fans during the match, seriously injuring one supporter, who was subsequently admitted to intensive care.


The official statement from Al-Ittihad reads as follows:


"The management and supporters of Al-Ittihad SC strongly condemn and denounce the actions of the Intervention and Control Unit members, who fired live ammunition at unarmed fans while they were cheering for their team during the match. As a result, one supporter sustained a severe injury and was taken to intensive care.


Through this statement, we urge the Attorney General and the Minister of Interior to conduct an urgent investigation, hold those responsible accountable, ensure that justice is served, and initiate legal action against those involved."

Match result and standings


Al-Ittihad played to a 1-1 draw against Al-Majd in the first round of the second phase of the Libyan League.


The team currently sits in third place with 14 points, trailing second-placed Olympic Azzawiya by four points and group leaders Swehly SC by six points, both of whom have one game in hand.


The top three teams from the group will qualify for the next stage of the Libyan League title race.


Meanwhile, Al-Majd occupies eighth place with seven points.


Al-Ittihad SC and Al-Majd compete in Group Three, which consists of nine teams. The Libyan League is divided into four groups, featuring a total of 35 teams.
