Only one round of matches remain in the Libyan Premier League after the seventh round of games was completed on Thursday. With the championship stage upcoming, Libya's top clubs will be present in the next round as one of the top three finishers in the league's four groups divided by region.
Most notably, Al Ahli Tripoli remained perfect in league play this season with their latest result, a 3-0 victory over Al-Khmes on Thursday. Angolan striker Mabululu continued his domination of defenses in Group 4 by scoring a brace to bring his season total to nine goals from seven matches. Mabululu's goals on Thursday, both poacher's finishes, are below.
While Al Ahli continued their dominance of Group 4, Asswehly Sports Club recorded a historic thumping earlier in the week with a 7-1 result over Al-Majd. Former TP Mazembe forward Fily Traoré scored a hat-trick with the Malian pouncing on a distraught Majd defense, scoring all of his goals in the second half after assisting the fourth goal to maintain Asswehly as the top club in Group 3. All of the goals from the match are in the video below.
In Group 2, Benghazi giants Al Hilal joined rivals Al Ahly to qualify for the next stage after recording a 2-1 victory over Al Sadaqa. Mauritania national team striker Hemeya Tanjy opened the scoring for Hilal, who are likely to finish runner-up to Ahly after previously suffering a derby defeat to their rivals earlier this month.
In Group 1, Al Akhdar's perfect record came to an end this week. Star forward Ary Papel and his teammates were silenced by Al Borouq in a 0-0 draw. Akhdar, on 19 points from 7 matches, will finish in first place regardless of this week's result.
In the same group, reigning Libyan champions Al Nasr were also held to a draw and are the only big club in Libya who still have work to do on the final day. Nasr are two points clear of fourth placed Al Tahaddi ahead of their final opening stage match against third placed Al-Suqoor.
