A hat-trick from Burkina Faso national team forward Stephane Aziz Ki led reigning Tanzanian champions Young Africans SC to a 6-1 thrashing of Kinondoni MC in league play on Friday.

The former ASEC Mimosas star helped the Citizens rain goals on their hosts at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam, scoring three times after Prince Dube opened Yanga's account in the 10th minute. Dube took advantage of nonexistent marking by the KMC defense to head in Maxi Nzengeli's cross before Aziz Ki converted a penalty kick eight minutes later.

The hosts, who had not scored a league goal against Yanga in nearly four years, finally found the net in the 52nd minute but only after Aziz Ki scored another goal three minutes earlier. The 28-year-old collected a loose ball in the penalty area and finished over goalkeeper Ismail Mpank.

It was a difficult day for Mpank, the 18-year-old keeper seen as a promising prospect for the future who has spent time with the Tanzania under-20 national team. Given a serious test against giants Yanga, Mpank was helpless to stop Aziz Ki from collecting his third goal with a second penalty kick after the keeper tripped Dube in the penalty area.

Congolese winger Nzengeli went on to add two more goals in the final minutes against a KMC team that was completely overwhelmed. Yanga move back into first place for the time being with one more match played than rivals Simba SC, who play their next match on Wednesday at Namungo.

In other matches played on Friday, last placed KenGold continued their surprising form by earning a point at Tabora United in a 1-1 draw (video of the goals below). After six consecutive defeats, KenGold have collected four points in their last two matches to finally reach double digits on the league table.

Peter Lwasa was the star for Kagera Sugar as the relegation fighters defeated Fountain Gate by a 3-0 score for their first league victory since early November. Namungo won 1-0 at Tanzania Prisons in a match played at the same time as Yanga's victory.
