Simba SC defender Ladack Chasambi has called on the club fans to forgive for his mistake that led to an own goal in the previous match after he scored in the 3-0 win against Tanzania Prisons at KMC Stadium on Monday.
The young player was handed a start in the Mainland Premier League fixture and did not disappoint, this coming after he had scored an own in their 1-1 draw against Singida Black Stars, an outcome that saw Wekundu wa Msimbazi lose top spot to rivals Young Africans (Yanga SC).
However, on Monday, Chasambi made amends as he scored the third goal to help Simba reclaim the top spot following Yanga’s 0-0 draw against JKT Tanzania.
“I sat down with my teammates including Shomari (Kapombe), coach Davids and I want to confess that what they told me will build my career, I was going through very difficult times (after the own goal), but I want to thank my team because they stood by me and gave me the opportunity to recover from the upset,” Chasambi told Pan-Africa Football.
“I felt nice to score, because my team wanted to win, so I thank my fans, and I ask my fans to forgive me for what had happened before, I scored into my net, but today I scored the other side for my team to win, I am happy to score my first goal for Simba.
“I also thank coach Davids, he called me (after the own goal mistake), and told me that the last mistake is now gone and I should prepare for another match, I had done a mistake and saw my team drop from the top spot.
“It hurt me, but the coach said to me to forget about it and look forward, and today I have scored and now we have moved top again, I call on all Simba fans to forgive me, we move forward as a team.”
The win enabled Simba to reclaim top spot with 47 points from 18 matches, one more than Yanga, who have played the same number of matches.
