Simba SC moved to within four points of Tanzania Mainland Premier League leaders Young Africans on Saturday with a convincing 3-0 victory at Coastal Union.

Ugandan hitman Steven Mukwala scored all three goals for the Reds, who were in need of a victory after being held to a thrilling 2-2 draw by Azam FC earlier in the week. The visitors opened the scoring around the half hour point when Kibu Denis picked out right back David Kameta who crossed for an open Mukwala to finish.

Just before halftime, Mukwala put Simba on the verge of clinching victory with his second. After another attack started on the right wing, Kibu floated a cross beyond the far post to find Elie Mpanzu and the Congolese crossed for a wide open Mukwala to finish from six yards out.

The match was effectively after before sixty minutes had elapsed when the former Asante Kotoko marksman completed his hat-trick. Mpanzu unleashed a powerful effort from distance that was punched away by Coastal Union goalkeeper Chuma Ramadhani but the ball went right to Mukwala who hit a first-time show into the roof of the net.

The stage is now set for Tanzania's biggest match next week. Simba will have an opportunity to move within range of claiming first place if the Reds can defeat eternal rivals Young Africans when the teams clash in the Kariakoo Derby. Both teams will have a week to prepare for the match which very well could decide the champion.
