Simba SC Media Officer Ahmed Ally has warned the players to play with cautious when they return to Tanzanian Mainland Premier League action against Tabora United at the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora on February 2.
The Wekundu wa Msimbazi will commence their second round just a week after sealing their place in the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup. Simba confirmed their place as Group A leaders following a vital 2-0 win against CS Constantine at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in their final game.
Simba resumed training on Thursday after being given four days off and according to Ally, the Tanzanian giants must avoid being complacency against Tabora.
“Facing Tabora United will not be an easy task. However, we are determined to secure positive results. I may not be fully aware of their current form, but I know they can thrive in challenging matches. For that reason, we must remain vigilant to avoid giving them any chance of success against us,” said Ally as quoted by the Guardian.
“Our focus is on the Tabora United match. We are taking it very seriously and will approach it with full caution. We are in the league right now, even dropping a single point can allow our rivals to catch up or overtake us. Therefore, we must win against Tabora United. This is one of the most challenging matches we have this February.”
Simba are currently sitting top of the league table with 40 points from 15 matches, one more than rivals and defending champions Young Africans (Yanga SC), who have played the same number of matches.
