A strong second half carried Tanzania Mainland Premier League leaders Young Africans to victory on Wednesday.
Yanga disposed of fellow top-5 side Tabora United by a 3-0 score to gain revenge after Tabora stunned them at home back in November. Former Simba SC player Israel Mwenda opened the scoring for the visitors in the 21st minute with a beautiful curling free kick.
With the score remaining close at halftime, Yanga accelerated their efforts for maximum points and two goals in the span of eleven minutes confirmed victory for the league leaders. In the 57th minute, Yanga exploited an exposed Tabora United defense on the counter-attack and Pacôme Zouzoua found Clement Mzize who finished with ease. Prince Dube moved Yanga beyond reach eleven minutes later.
There were three other matches on Wednesday. Fourth place Singida Black Stars put pressure on Azam FC above them with a 3-0 victory at Fountain Gate FC. Ghanaian striker Jonathan Sowah was among the scorers with his eighth goal as he continues to light up the Tanzanian top flight since joining in the last transfer window.
Yanga increase their league lead to four points while rivals Simba are on continental duty in Egypt for the quarterfinals of the CAF Confederation Cup.
