A busy February for Tanzania's top clubs appears to be having a negative effect on their results with defending champions Young Africans the latest victims of fixture congestion on Monday.

Yanga, scorers of 26 goals in their previous 6 matches, could only earn one point in a 0-0 draw with JKT Tanzania. After the surprise exit of previous coach Sead Ramovic, Monday saw the debut of coach Miloud Hamdi but the result was far from pleasing for the club's supporters (highlights below).

Yanga's draw was not the only surprise result from games played on Monday and Sunday. Third placed Azam FC fell 1-0 on Sunday to relegation battlers Pamba Jiji who found a late match winner from former Yanga forward Deus Kaseke.

Even last placed KenGold, previously on the wrong end of a 6-1 defeat to Yanga, earned their first victory since early October! A 2-0 victory over Fountain Gate moved the Mbeya based club to 9 points, still far from safety but a necessary result for a club who ended a 10-match winless streak.

Finally, fourth placed Singida Black Stars continued to underachieve on Monday with a 2-0 defeat to Kinondoni MC. The big spenders lost previous head coach Miloud Hamdi to Yanga and the results have suffered with Monday's defeat following a disappointing 2-2 draw to strugglers Kagera Sugar.

The path is now open for Simba SC to jump back into first place, which the Reds can do if they defeat Tanzania Prisons at home on Tuesday.
