Reigning Tanzanian champions Young Africans Sports Club continue to march on in domestic football after their latest victory on Saturday, a 4-0 result over Ligi Kuu Bara foes Kagera Sugar.
Familiar names contributed to the dominant victory for Yanga with Clement Mzize, Mudathir Yahya, Pacôme Zouzoua and Kennedy Musonda each contributing a goal. Visitors Kagera Sugar's attempt to pass out of defense backfired in the 32nd minute and Stephane Aziz Ki set up Mzize for the opening goal.
Kagera Sugar kept the match close for a long stretch with goalkeeper Ramadhan Chalamanga doing brilliantly to deny a penalty kick from Aziz Ki shortly after Mzize's opener. However the dam broke in the final half hour for Kagera with Chalamanga left helpless by a deflection when Yahya finished from a Prince Dube cross.
Ivorian midfielder Zouzoua scored his sixth league goal of the season in the 77th minute and Zambia national team attacker Musonda chipped in a late strike to further Kagera Sugar's misery in the final ten minutes.
Yanga have now won six consecutive league matches as they sharpen their focus on domestic affairs after being eliminated from the CAF Champions League earlier in January. The Citizens have a busy February ahead in the league with another home clash against bottom of the table KenGold on Wednesday. They currently lead rivals Simba at the top by two points with one more match played.
