Young Africans (Yanga SC) coach Miloud Hamdi has revealed why they must stay focused and win their remaining matches despite defeating Singida Big Stars (Fountain Gate) 4-0 in a Mainland Premier League fixture at Kwaraa Stadium on Easter Monday.
The Citizens took advantage of two horrendous mistakes from keeper John Noble to take a deserved 2-0 lead at the half-time break. The opener was scored by forward Clement Mzize in the 39th minute after a mistake by Noble before Stephane Aziz Ki pounced on another mistake by the keeper to make it 2-0 in the 43rd minute.
Yanga continued to remain dangerous in the second half and they grabbed the third when Mzize hit the back of the net in the 70th minute before Zambia international Clatous Chama rounded off the emphatic win with a goal from a well-curled free-kick in the 89th minute.
“Until now we have won nothing, it is only three points and we still have three matches, not won the title yet and we have to continue to fight and win matches, we have to continue, we must not stumble, and we must continue to work very hard, and to do everything to win the last three matches,” Hamdi told Pan-Africa Football.
“We don’t have choice, we don’t have choice, because we know that Simba are waiting for us to make mistakes, they are waiting for one mistake of us, to take the advantage, so we must not make any mistake.
“I am very happy we managed to win, I have a lot of respect for Fountain Gate, but we really wanted to have the three points and that is the most important thing.”
With three matches left to conclude the season, excluding the Kariakoo derby against Simba which is yet to be played, Yanga opened a 20-point gap ahead of their main rivals. They have amassed 70 points, while Simba are second on 57 points.
