While title rivals Simba continue their CAF Confederation Cup campaign, Young Africans are showing no signs of slowing down in Tanzania's NBC Premier League. Yanga eased to a 4-0 victory over Fountain Gate on Monday to further extend their lead at the top of the table.
Young star Clement Mzize scored twice while Stephane Aziz Ki and Clatous Chama each chipped in with a goal as Yanga had no issues at all away from home at the Tanzanite Kwaraa Stadium.
The visitors got plenty of help from Fountain Gate's Nigerian goalkeeper John Noble who had an absolute shocker on Monday. After he and the Fountain Gate defense held out for the first half hour, the former Enyimba shot stopper was at fault for both goals scored by Yanga at the end of the first half with Mzize opening the scoring before Aziz Ki had an easy finish.
In the final twenty minutes, Yanga added two more goals. In the 70th minute, Congolese winger Jonathan Ikongalombo combined with Prince Dube before crossing for Mzize to fire in the third goal and Zambian playmaker Chama finished the scoring close to stoppage time.
Yanga continue to increase the pressure for Simba once they return to league play. With four more matches played than the Reds, Yanga are thirteen points clear and know that if they win their remaining matches another domestic league title will be theirs.
