Ligi Kuu Tanzania Bara: Simba maintain excellent domestic form

Upon their return to domestic league action on Wednesday, Simba SC did not show any signs of a hangover from Sunday's emotional CAF Confederation Cup victory over Tunisia's CS Sfaxien.

The Reds were all business on Wednesday in a 2-0 victory over Mainland Premier League newcomers KenGold FC, increasing their streak in league play to six wins without a defeat or draw. Cameroonian striker Leonel Ateba scored both goals for the hosts in Dar es Salaam with a penalty kick conversion opening the scoring in the 35th minute.

Ateba, signed from Algerian giants USM Alger, added a powerful header just before halftime for Simba who trail league leaders Azam FC by two points but have played three less matches. Azam defeated Fountain Gate 2-0 on Tuesday with goals from Gibril Sillah and Alassane Ndao.

Simba will make up some of those matches with Saturday's duel at Kagera Sugar beginning a stretch of three matches in seven days before returning to Group A action in the Confederation Cup where they have two wins (six points) in three matches.

Highlights from the victories for Simba and Azam are below as well as the latest league table.
