A thrilling title race in the top flight of Ivorian football now sees three teams all within range of each other at the top of the table.
ASEC Mimosas took one step closer to overtaking leaders Stade d'Abidjan after doing enough to secure a 1-0 victory over ISCA on Friday. A deadly counter attack in the ninth minute from ASEC saw 16-year-old phenom Ibrahim Dosso brilliantly turn his defender before crossing to Celestine Ecua for a routine finish. The goal was enough for Les Mimos to claim all three points, stretching their unbeaten run to five matches.
Above them on the table, Stade d'Abidjan continued a complete meltdown after dropping points yet again. The CAF Champions League group stage participants could only manage a 1-1 draw with CO Korhogo, adding another match to their winless streak which now stands at four matches.
Another twist to the title race comes in the form of AFAD Djékanou, who can overtake both ASEC and Stade d'Abidjan to assume first place when they face LYS Sassandra on Tuesday. ASEC and Stade have five matches remaining while AFAD have six more games to play.
Certainly, there is more drama coming, but firstly, ASEC will clash with Africa's most in form club RS Berkane when Les Mimos host the Moroccan champions on Wednesday in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals.
