
In Round 26 from France's Ligue 1, PSG beat archrivals Olympique de Marseille 3-1 in Paris as they cemented their lead at the top of the table. In his first Le Classique Algerian striker Amine Gouiri found the net for OM to continue his recent fine form.
Gouiri halved the deficit in the second half after being set up by Adrien Rabiot with a cool finish inside the box at the start of the second half. Gouiri has managed to score three goals in his last four encounters against the French giants. The Algerian national team forward has bagged seven Ligue 1 goals this season and was voted Ligue 1 February Player of the Month.
OM are still second with 49 points but title talks is now a rare dream as PSG tops the standing with 68 points.
Elsewhere, Cameroon international Frank Magri’s early goal could not save Toulouse from losing 2-1 to Strasbourg. Magri struck from a rebound in the third minute as he persisted with his strong form.
He has now bagged in four matches in a row with four league goals to his name. Magri is expected have a role for the Indomitable Lions when 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying resumes this week.
Energetic Guinean midfielder Abdoulaye Touré converted a first half penalty on Le Havre’s 4-2 defeat to Lyon.
The Le Havre captain has now found the net in back-to-back games but his side are now in the relegation zone with 21 points.
