CS Don Bosco FC attacker Patrick Mwaungulu says he is gutted losing 2-1 to parent club TP Mazembe in the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s top flight Linafoot playoffs on Wednesday afternoon.
The Malawian took to his Facebook page to express his feelings after the away match of the playoffs in Lubumbashi, where he was on target for the visitors.
“Gutted with yesterday’s defeat against TP Mazembe on the first day of playoffs phase, but I feel motivated to be on the scoresheet again. On to the next one,” he said.
Mazembe won the game courtesy of goals from defender Dieu Ndongala and striker Louis Autchanga in the second half.
Don Bosco pulled one back through Mwaungulu. The forward is on loan at Don Bosco from Moise Katumbi’s team after having joined them from Malawi champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets last year.
Mazembe coach Lamine Ndiaye featured a strong line-up comprising stars such as goalkeeper Aliou Faty and attacker Basile Konga. The visitors, too, paraded the likes of Mwaungulu and compatriot Lanjesi Nkhoma in attack. The two Malawians are on loan at Don Bosco from Moise Katumbi’s Mazembe side.
Don Bosco’s next assignment in the playoffs is against AM Maniema on April 27 2025 while Mazembe now take on DC Motema Pembe in Kinshasa on the same day at the Stade des Martyrs. This will be followed by the Lushois derby between TP Mazembe and FC Saint-Éloi Lupopo scheduled for the Stade Mazembe on May 8, 2025.
The play-offs involve group A teams, namely Mazembe, FC St Eloi Lupopo, SM Sanga Balende, AS Simba, FC Tanganyika and CS Don Bosco. The other participants are from pool B, comprising leaders AS Maniema Union, FC Les Aigles Du Congo, FC Rangers, AS VClub, AF Anges Verts, and DCMP.
