Teenage sensation Kelly Madada and current Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League top scorer Ryan Ogam have made the cut as Harambee Stars interim coach Francis Kimanzi named his travelling party for Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar.

Kimanzi whittled down the squad on Tuesday as the team prepares to depart to Zanzibar for the invitation tournament scheduled for January 3 to 13. Kimanzi will lead the squad as head coach with John Kamau and Zedekiah Otieno serving as deputies.

Former Kenyan international goalkeeper Arnold Origi is the goalkeeping coach, while Mikael Igediah will oversee fitness technology. Wycliff Makanga and Noel Mandi will serve as the team doctor and physiotherapist respectively.

According to FKF Vice-President Macdonald Mariga, Kenya will use the tournament as part of their preparations for the 2024 Africa Nation Championship (CHAN) tournament which they will co-host alongside Tanzania and Uganda.

“The Mapinduzi Cup offers our local boys a perfect opportunity to prepare for the upcoming CHAN tournament, and this is why we have honored the invite. We will give the team all the required support to ensure they are settled and ready to concentrate on their job, which is to play football and carry the Kenyan flag high,” said Mariga.
