Madagascar gear up to name a new head coach for their national side. The Madagascar Football Federation (FMF) has already lined up few candidates to take the helm of Barea before 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying resumes in March.

Madagascar recently parted ways with coach Romuald Rakotondrabe. According to Africa Foot United they lined up few names to succeed Rakotondrabe. Among them is French coach Corentin Martins.

Martins is well known for coaching Mauritania and most recently coached Algerian side CR Belouizdad before being dismissed after a brief spell. His most well known accomplishment is leading Mauritania to qualification for the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.

Former Gabon coach Patrice Neveu is also among the candidates to take the job in the island country. The Malagasy Football Federation (FMF) will be tasked to handle the substantial salary required to hire a foreign coach, something that is seen as a potential challenge for the FMF.

Madagascar last qualified for the AFCON in 2019, making a massive statement as they reached the quarterfinals against expectations. The Barea's next competitive game will be against Central Africa Republic in FIFA World Cup qualifying on March 19. Madagascar are currently third in Group I with seven points from four matches, two points behind both Comoros and Ghana in a group that also includes Mali, Central African Republic and Chad.
