Madagascar coach Romuald Rakotondrabe says ‘nothing has been decided yet’ despite The Berea going into Sunday's match against Eswatini carrying a 2-0 lead in the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
Rakotondrabe said this ahead of the CHAN second round, second leg match at Côte d'Or National Sports Complex in Mauritius. “We were happy that we did not concede and that was important. The second match will be hard for both teams as they will try to win it so nothing has been decided yet,” he said.
Rakotondrabe said qualifying for the CHAN finals would help open a new chapter for Madagascar football. The Barea can sail through with any win and any draw as they beat Eswatini at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa, last Saturday courtesy of John Christiano Razafimanana and Fenohasina Gilles Razafimaro’s goals.
After the match in Pretoria, the men for Rakotondrabe remained behind to continue preparations before leaving for Mauritius in two groups on December 25 and 26, 2024.
Meanwhile, Eswatini coach Zdravko Logarušić remains optimistic about overturning the tables in the second leg and securing qualification to the CHAN finals for the first time.
