Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen has refused to fault his players after yet another defeat, 1-0 to SuperSport United on Saturday left the Carling Black Label Cup champions in the relegation zone of the Betway Premiership in South Africa.

In a post-match interview with SuperSport Television, Larsen felt his side, which stunned Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 to win the Carling Black Label Cup weeks ago, deserved to win on Saturday.

"I don't think we can blame our defence for that. I thought they were solid throughout the match. They dealt with the two strikers—Tashreeq Morris and Bradley Grobler—very well. I cannot fault the players for the effort. You don't always get what you deserve in football. Today was a typical example of that.,” he said.

Taking his turn, SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt said he was relieved that his side is now getting into top form after an indifferent start to the season. "I thought we played good stuff tonight. We had to be patient tonight. Football is difficult. Sometimes you go through these difficult stages. It was a good performance from us,” he said.

Grobler scored in the 80th minute for SuperSport to register their second back-to-back league win this season. On the other hand, Magesi swapped positions with Richards Bay who defeated Golden Arrows 1-0 on Saturday to move up to second from the bottom.
