New Zamalek midfielder Mahmoud Gehad, signed from fellow Egyptian Premier League club Pharco this week, revealed that negotiations with the White Castle started nearly a year ago while he was still at Pharco.

In statements to Zamalek’s media center, Gehad said:

“My desire was to play for Zamalek from the very first day the club negotiated with me, but the decision was in the hands of Pharco’s management. During the winter transfer window, Pharco’s officials agreed to let me join the White Castle.”

He continued:

“Moving from a big club like Pharco to Zamalek, which competes for championships, raises my ambitions to compete for all titles. I hope to meet the expectations of the coaching staff and the fans.”

Gehad also spoke about the reactions he found from the fans:

“I expected the reactions from the fans and they are positive, and I seek to live up to the responsibility. My family is proud of my move to Zamalek.”

Regarding his aspirations, he stated:

“My ambitions with Zamalek are to win all possible championships, help the team, and be part of the club’s journey to success.”

He added:

“The competition between my teammates and me will benefit us all. Together, we can help the club become number one.”

Gehad also pointed out that he is already familiar with some of his new teammates:

“The atmosphere at the club will not feel strange to me because I have played with some of my teammates in national teams before, and I was in contact with them before joining Zamalek.”

He concluded his statements by saying:

“I hope to live up to the responsibility and contribute to the club’s success in winning titles in the upcoming period.”
