Al Ahli Saudi coach Matthias Jaissle paid homage to Algerian playmaker Riyad Mahrez. Jaissle claimed the Algerian winger is one of the best talents he has ever coached in his career.

Speaking to Italian media Corriere Dello Sport, the German stated Mahrez is one of the best: "Riyad is certainly one of the greatest talents I have ever coached. He can do almost anything with the ball and he is a player capable of changing a game with a dribble, a pass or a shot."

Mahrez played for Leicester City and Manchester City before moving to Saudi Arabia. He quickly established himself at the Jeddah outfit as he led them back to AFC Champions League qualification and a third place finish at the conclusion of the 2023-24 Saudi Pro League season. The 33-year-old left footer has bagged seven goals in all competitions this season.

Jaissle further added Mahrez brings vast experience from his time in European club football where he won everything including the UEFA Champions League.

Mahrez is still in the Algerian national side roster where he serves as the captain. The French-born attacking midfielder won the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with Les Fennecs and has accumulated 32 goals in 98 appearances for the North African nation.
