Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers have ended their sponsorship deal with global financial services firm, Mukuru, at the expiration of their three-year contract.
Wanderers and Mukuru have released a joint statement on Wednesday confirming the end of their agreement.
“The parties hereby announce that they have mutually agreed not to renew the sponsorship agreement between Mighty Wanderers and Mukuru,” a joint statement reads.
Mukuru, which transacts in money transfer services across Africa and Europe, injected an equivalent of $175,000 into the one-year renewable deal with Wanderers in 2022.
Wanderers are six-time winners of the Malawi Super League, three behind Silver Strikers and nine trophies behind rivals Bullets.
Mukuru announced the sponsorship of Wanderers alongside that of Crystal Palace in the United Kingdom in 2022.
