Malawi Super League outfit Mighty Wanderers midfielder Mphatso Kamanga has undergone successful orthopedic knee surgery at Matseke Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Kamanga left Malawi on Thursday for South Africa through Chileka Airport to undergo the surgery. “Our midfielder Mphatso Kamanga has undergone a successful orthopedic knee surgery at Matseke Hospital in Johannesburg. Godspeed in your healing process baller,” read a statement from the club.
Earlier on Thursday, Mighty Wanderers Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Panganeni Ndovi confirmed that the Club had flown Kamanga to South Africa where he was scheduled to undergo knee repair.
"You will recall that we had sent Kamanga to Zimbabwe last November to undergo arthroscopy and meniscectomy knee surgery at West-end Clinic,” explained Ndovi.
“However, it was discovered that the injury was serious and it needed repair and reconstruction. This is the reason we have decided to send Mphatso [Kamanga] to South Africa as Zimbabwe also doesn't have orthopedic knee specialists.”
Speaking to Wanderers Media prior to his departure, Kamanga was grateful to Wanderers FC for the support he has received since he sustained the injury.
“I am grateful to the board and club management for sending me to Zimbabwe and now South Africa. Not all clubs can provide such support to their players. All I can say is God bless Wanderers and I hope all will be well for me to bounce back,” said Kamanga
Kamanga suffered torn meniscus in August last year during the match against Dedza Dynamos FC. The creative midfielder joined the Lali Lubani side from Karonga United in December, 2022.
