Mighty Wanderers FC remain active in the January transfer window after signing midfielder Nanison Mbewe and goalkeeper Chancy Mtete on Tuesday.

Wanderers have confirmed that Mbewe has joined from fellow Super League team, Karonga United, where he was the captain.

“The defending midfielder has penned a three-year deal,” a statement from Wanderers reads.

The Blantyre-based outfit, which is also called Nomads, also unveiled keeper Mtete to replace first-choice William Thole who has left for Zimbabwe to seek greener pastures.

“We announce the signing of 22-year-old Chancy Mtete from Mzuzu City Hammers FC. The lanky shot-stopper will ply his trade at Lali Lubani until 2028,” the statement adds.

Mtete helped Hammers reach the Castel Challenge Cup final last season when they lost 1-0 to Wanderers while also finishing in a respectable fourth place in the league.

The seven-time Super League champions were the first to invade the market after recruiting striker Promise Kamwendo at the end of his contract with Dedza Dynamos.
