FCB Nyasa Big Bullets coach Peter Mponda says his side got the tactics right to beat Malawi TNM Super League defending champions, Silver Strikers FC 1-0 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday afternoon.

Mponda got the better of Silver, a team he steered to their first Super League championship last season, through Nigerian Babatunde Adepoju’s sole first-half strike.

Apart from the goal, the former Black Leopards coach and player felt his side dominated every length and breadth of the pitch.

“The guys fought so hard for those three points. We must go back and celebrate those three points. I think tactically we were spot on. We need to go back and assess some areas but for today we need to go back and celebrate,” Mponda told MBC TV.

Silver coach Peter Mgangira, who served as Mponda’s right-hand man last season, missed scoring opportunities in the Super League’s opener.

In other games, rookies Ekhaya FC stunned Mighty Tigers 2-0 whereas Mafco FC beat Chitipa United 1-0.
