Mamelodi Sundowns set for Uganda tour in honour of legendary goalkeeper Denis Onyango

South African football powerhouse Mamelodi Sundowns, home to Ugandan Cranes legend Denis Onyango, has chosen Uganda as the first stop in their African tour series.


The 2016 CAF Champions League winners announced their itinerary, which includes several key engagements during the international break.

The club is expected to arrive in Uganda on March 20, with visits scheduled to Ntanda College in Butambala and the Football Association headquarters (FUFA) on March 20 and 21, respectively.


“Mamelodi Sundowns is excited to announce the first leg of our African Tour – with the first destination being Uganda, the home of all-time African great & Mamelodi Sundowns legend, Denis ‘Masinde’ Onyango! Through friendship and football clinics, the goal is to give back to football-loving countries across the continent! Stay tuned to our pages for more content from our first stop on the tour,” the club announced via its social media platforms.


As part of their Ugandan tour, Sundowns will also visit Onyango’s former club, SC Villa, before hosting a football clinic at the newly redeveloped Hamz Stadium on March 22.


Recognized as one of Africa’s most dominant clubs, Sundowns’ visit is expected to leave a lasting impact on Ugandan football, inspiring clubs and athletes while strengthening ties between the two nations.
