Hat-trick hero Omar Marmoush has described his first goal as the best in Manchester City’s 4-0 rout over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday evening at the Ettihad Stadium.
Marmoush’s treble, the first in his professional career, and James McAtee’s late strike off the bench sent otherwise the troubled defending champions City spinning happily into fourth place.
In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Marmoush explained why it felt great to score his first career hat-trick for the Premier League champions.
“It’s my first hat-trick in my career. I would like to thank my teammates, the staff and the coach of course for helping me achieve this moment. They made me feel like part of this family from the first day. I’m really happy,” he said.
“I think my first one [is my favourite], because it’s my first goal for City the feeling was unbelievable, in this atmosphere, in this stadium, it was really nice.”
Marmoush also praised City goalkeeper Ederson for providing him an assist with a long throw for the opener.
The Egyptian, who signed for City in January, is helping solve Pep Guardiola’s striking options, especially in games when the opposition targets leading scorer Erling Halaand preventing him from scoring.
City are in fourth place, 13 points behind leaders Liverpool who have a game in hand and will be in action against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
